YOUNGSTERS and adults alike absorbed all aspects of Norman life at Saturday’s Medieval Day in Clitheroe Castle’s grounds. Overlooked by the town’s Norman keep,

the sound of weapons and the crackle of cooking fires emanated from the grounds; as re-enactment group “Historia Nor- mannis” set up camp.

-y -The historians brought history alive demonstrating crafts, combat and even medieval court justice from the late 12th century, much to the delight of onlookers.

' A minstrel was even on hand to tell sto ries to the younger children who attended the event. Rebecca Kay, Kibble Valley Borough Council’s tourism and arts offi-; cer, said: “We're looking to develop a pro gramme of events for the Castle grounds and for the museum in the future.” She added that a medieval food market

will be held in August as part of the Pen nine Lancashire Festival of Food and Cul ture with local and traditional produce on •■offer..'
