Club comes second PHOTOGRAPHERS from Ribblesdale Camera Club
fared well in the Interclub Photographic Alliance’s Monochrome (black and white) folio, coming second out of the dozen-OKO local clubs who entered, only a point below the winners. Bury.
’ With entries nuarked out of . 20, Sue Marsden had the highest mark with her ima'ginatively treated pic ture of a metal chair, which she called “Cold Seat”. Stewart Clark was a close second with “Rowing on the Wear” (18), while a clutch of members received 17 marks, including Graham Dudley, Raymond Green wood and Nigel Mallinson. ' r .-- . The colour slides section of the Lancashire and
Cheshire Photographic Union’s Annual competition was a bit of a disaster; however, with the local club
• trailing last.’The best marks in a low scoring competi tion were received by John Bradley and Ken Geddes, but again this competition raises the controversy about digital creations being transferred to slide film.j Ribblesdale’s entries were “pure”; photographs, with- outcomputerintervention. . t : - ’: • Club members competed in the Blackburn Club’s annual “extravaganza”, a competitive but social get- together of local camera clubs. ; After a talk by Judith Angel on her recent holiday
in Namibia, her husband Alan judged a competition between the dozen clubs present. I t was obvious that natural history caught his eye, with Steuart Kelling- ton’s “Gaudy Tree EYog” scoring 18 and Kevin Pre-| ston’s “Hening Gull’’ marked on 17 ‘/2 . Ribblesdale members felt that the club’s other two
entries - a self-portrait by Stephen Robinson and a pile of piglets scrambling for food - were unlucky, as both had great success in recent competitions. In the event, Ribblesdale came third, equal with Prestwich behind Blackburn and Bolton, but above Bury anc seven other clubs. ' Meanwhile, the club began its 70 th year on Saturl
day. New members are always welcome a t the clubj which meets at West Bradford Village Hall on Tuesf day evenings at 7-30 p.m. during most of the year. • -Information on the club,'which is currently on it^ fortnightly summer'programme, can be obtained fron|
