•struggling in the wet and the cold,, had decided to offer us the'use of . her house. Furthermore, she was ;: offering us hot tea, food, and comr fort, and was fully prepared to let , all 40-odd young men and women-; 'tram p into her house.

by her generosity. Two of my mem- bers were ill, and they made their way to her house and were treated- like family. Furthermore, she apolo-: gised to them that she had to “pop o u f ’ a t nine o'clock; leaving these; two cold and sodden strangers in. her li'ving room! • Needless to say, as medieval re
enactors,
and.students, my mem- bers can look a little rough around;
the edges. In fact, some of-us look like .
rejects from a Hell's Angels conven t ion, -and th a t ’s before we'don;
- armour and h i t each other with - swords! But this lady, as far as I could see, li-ving on her own, rather than being worried by our presence , just over her wall, threw her, door - open to us and made us feel truly ;
