The proposal is to reduce the daily amount authorised to be abstraaed to 40,000 cubic metres per day. Also to reduce the points of absttaction to 5 points a t inland waters (Rivets Btennand and Whitendale and their tributaries) in Bowland Forest High CP, Forest of Bowland, Lancashire a t the foUowing NGRs — two points at SD 63 54, one point at SD 65 55, SD 66 54 and SD 65 53. Two new conditions will stop absu-action from the Rivet Brennand at SD 63 54 unless the rate of flow in the River Brennand immediately downstream of the authorised point of abstraction is equal to or greater than 62.65 litres per second and will stop abstraction from the River Whitendale at SD 65 55 unless the rate of flow in the River Whitendale immediately downstream of the authorised point of abstracdon is equal to or greaterthan 71.64 litres per second.

Licence No. 26 71314 002 authorises the abstraction of 9,092.1 cubic metres per day, 2,700,379 cubic metres per yeag from a borehole in underground strata (Millstone Grit) in Bowland Forest High CP, Forest of Bowland, Lancashire at NGR SD 65 53 for public water supply. This licence also has an aggregate condition with licence no. 26 71 314 004 with a maximum abstraction limit of 14,511,130 cubic metres per year between the two licences.- .


The proposal is to vary the amount authorised to be abstracted to include an hourly quantity of 378.83 cubic metres, removal of the aggregate with licence no. 26 71 314 004 and a new condition that no abstraction shall take place when the flow in the River Dunsop as gauged by the Agency at its flow gauging station at Footholme, NGR SD 65200 53200, is equal to or less than 255.78 litres per second, as may be notified by the Environment Agency.
