(pictured). Bom on October 28th, 1909
in Blackburn, Mrs Malone was a pupil at Notre Dame Convent School before going on to train as a secretary. For almost 50 years she worked at Haydock's Laundry near Brownhill in Blackburn,

husband Vincent and the couple went on to have three children, Andrew, John and Suzanne. Vincent died in 1988. Members of Mrs Mal one's family lived in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Dubai and Indonesia, as well as clos er to home in the UK. On several occasions Mr
and Mrs Malone travelled to Hong Kong to visit their son and his wife. Her extended family now includes four grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher, Caroline and Rory, as well as three great grandchildren, Oscar, Laila and Chloe. To mark her 100th birth
day her four grandchildren performed a short concert at Stonyhurst College, where the three boys had been pupils. Now a resident at the Manor House in Chatburn, Mrs Malone celebrated her special birthday with family, friends and residents, (s)

TARGET smashing Year 11 pupils at a Ribble Valley high school have been praised by their headteacher. At St Augustine's RC High School's cel
ebration evening, Mr Anthony McNama ra said his’ school had recorded the high est "year on year progress at Key Stage 4 " across all Lancashire's high schools. He said that in doing so his BiUington
school had "smashed through all the already challenging targets" set by the local authority. Mr McNamara described the results as
"magnificent" and a "testimony to the commitment and effort of our learners and their teachers". During his speech, Mr McNamara

A FANTASTIC firework dis play is planned at the bonfire night to be held on Saturday at Clitheroe Castle grounds. The bonfire will be lit at 6-30
