l it tle was created from either side until Riming ton upped the pace. Dangerous on every set
piece, they broke the deadlock from a long free
.kick into the box, where th e tenacity of Black- ledge's challenge resulted- in the ball falling to Sheilds to slot home from 10 yards.
' . Rimington grew in
s tature from there, and created a number of opportunities. ■The second did eventu
ally come 10 minutes before the break, as Shields’ cross found Sharpies on the back stick to dummy a sh o t and then side-foot home. The second half started
in the same fashion as Rimington controlled the game. Sharpies found his sec

. Forest pulled one back,
but Sharpies continued to threaten and nearly got his th ird when a ball dropped over his shoulder and from 35 yards he turned and shot against the underside of the bar. Sharpies did complete
.his hat-trick when Carter. sent a long ball over the
■ top and he volleyed over - the stranded keeper from
- 30 yards. The introduction of
substitutes and tinkering with the personnel in mid- ■ field contributed to a sloppy 20 minutes from Rimington,- and this led to Forest’s second goal. But Sharpies killed the
game when the keeper fumbled and he turned and placed the ball into an open net. M a n -o f - th e -m a tch

Hurst Green ' . ............ 1 L ittle Lever — ■... .2 HURST. Green crashed o u t of the Lancashire Amateur Cup at the sec ond round stage, a t the
hands'of the holders. The locals p u t in a
valiant effort with only 10 men for the best part of an hour, and can be proud of their perform-, ance. • B u t they will u l t i
m a te ly feel slightly; aggrieved they were not - given the opportunity to te s t their visitors with their full compliment of players. ■ The visitors were
quick to show th e ir intentions, but chances were a t a premium as both sides cancelled each other out. Lever ’s only ea r ly
chance saw a sh o t screwed wide by the pacy right winger, with the first real chance see ing a Bolton free kick controlled expertly by Chippendale, who rounded the keeper only for his shot to be cleared off the line. Taylor was also unfor
tunate moments later as his free kick was tipped over the bar by th e Lever keeper, but eight min u tes before the break, came the incident
which changed the game. Bolton was shown the
red card for a late tackle, which in a l l hones ty would p ro b ab ly have only earned a yellow card;in a normal league game. After th e in te rv a l .
Lever forced a number of corners, and it was from one of these th a t they opened the scoring, as the unmarked forward headed in from close range. And d e sp ite Green
slowly finding their feet, i t was 2-0 when a deep corner found the late run of the full b a ck , who headed home u n ch a l lenged. Green now were
throwing.every thing at the Lever goal, with Tip- ton n ea r ly scoring a screamer as his volley was tipped over the bar. They did pull a goal
back three minutes from time, as a frantic goal mouth scramble ended when "Walker volleyed home a f te r his in ih a l shot came back off the bar. But it was too little,
too late, and they will look to return to winning ways on S a tu rd ay against Mill Hill (kick off 2-15 p.m.).
