beth has already gained success in fencing, being th e Under. 17 national champion as well as being selected to fence for Great Britain in the Under 17 European. Championships and earlier this year at the Under 20 World Champi- o n sh ip s in S ic i ly . ' This year’s fencing sea

son began in July with the British Senior National Championships where E lizab e th gained a

respectable 13th place, fol lowed up by a second place in the first Under 20 com petition in London. She then gained a third at the British Under 20 National Championships in October. >These r e su lts have

ensured Elizabeth a place on the Under 20 Great Britain squad this year, able to travel to interna tional competitions in Slo vakia, I ta ly , .Hungary, Prance and Sweden. Posi tioned in third place on the Under 20 rankings l is t means the fencer has been selected for the Junior European Championships to be held in Amsterdam.

“This is a massNe

Championships, Eliza beth’s aim is to qualify for the Junior Common wealths in,Malaysia in February and ultimately for the Under 20 World - Championships in Belfast in April. Our picture shows Eliza

hour of what had been seen as a must-win game, the Blues boss was himself feeling the blues. ' But the character within his side

shone through, as three goals in the final half hour saw them to a much- - needed success.
