as we went near a farmyard and then through' fields of long grass ready to be cut for hay. After Crawshaw Farm, Beatrix ahd Burn Fells came into view with Laythams nestling beneath Burn Breast. .Glimpses of Ingle- borough and Pen-y-ghent were ahead while to the south the TV mast on Waddington Fell could ju s t be seen^ Painhill Farm is remembered by its stone steps stile - most stiles being ladder stiles pro- ■vided by Lancashire County Council.
