FAMOUS for baring all, the Rylstone and District WI Calendar Girls were happy to cover up in stylish outfits from Ribble Valley fashion retailer Cos groves. It supplied the clothes for a very successful “Celebrity Fashion Show”, which raised more than £4,000 for a worthy cause. Held at the Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton, it fea

tured a celebrity guest appearance by the Calendar Girls, who strutted their stuff in a variety of out fits supplied by Cosgroves, which has outlets in Rimington and Whalley. The event was organised through the Craven sup

port group for Manorlands Hospice, at Oxenhope, which provides specialist palliative care for patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. More than 200 people turned out to watch the

fashion show, which featured men’s as well as ladies’ fashions. Speaking about the event, Dorothy Cos grove said: “We are delighted to support Manor- lands. The work they do at the hospice is so vital to the community and any help that can be given to them is of the utmost importance.” Our picture shows some of the WI Calendar Girls modelling outfits supplied by Cosgroves, (s)

Calendar Girls cover up! ORIENTAL CITRUS KEBABS

The wonderful flavours in Antony's kebabs make them the perfect barbecue food with a twist.

Serves: 4 Preparation and cooking: 30 minutes plus marinating and soaking time

INGREDIENTS:

• M tbsp Szechwan peppercorns, toasted then ground in a coffee grinder

• M tbsp garlic, mashed to a paste with a little salt • 2 tbsp fresh ginger, grated • 2 tbsp orange zest, finely grated - • 4 spnng onions (scallions), finely sliced • 1 chilli, finely chopped • 2 tbsp runny honey • 3 tbsp soy sauce • 150ml com oil • 75ml sesame oil

• 700g beef fillet or sirloin, cut into 16 cubes • 16 cherry tomatoes • 16 fresh bay leaves • 16 button mushrooms

METHOD:

• In a food processor, blend the peppercorns, garlic, ginger, orange zest, spring onions and chilli into a paste.

• In a large bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce and Oils with the paste. Season to taste. Pour over the beef and allow to marinate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.

• Soak 8 bamboo skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning. Onto each skewer, thread a cherry tomato, followed by a bay leaf, a cube of beef and a button mushroom, and repeat this order once more until the skewers are full. Brush each kebab with the marinade.

• Cook on a barbecue, under a grill or in a griddle pan for 3 to 4 minutes each side, or until the beef is cooked to your liking, basting with the marinade juices from time to time. Serve immediately.
