Based on a completely new platform, Auris has an overall length of 4220mm and a long wheelbase, 2600mm, resulting in excellent stability and ride comfort - along with optimum passenger space. An overall height o f 1515mm and width of 1760mm contribute to the spacious interior and the stable, but sporty look. while the interior may have been the starting point in the design process, there has been absolutely no compromise on the exterior appearance, as one look at the dynamic stance and lines of the new car w ill confirm. The wide body and wide tread create a stable look, while the designers have achieved a crisp, fresh feel overall.
Auris is the brand new family hatchback from Toyota, and at Vantage Toyota Colne we're proud and delighted to bring this thrilling new car to the local area for the first time. Pronounced "ow-ris", the new car has been created at Toyota's design studio in the south o f France, and it combines dynamic driving appeal, stylish looks and new levels of practicality with the core Toyota values of superior quality, innovation and driving pleasure. Auris is different because it's designed from the inside out. The driver and passengers are at the heart of the design, and the rest of the car is b u ilt around the comfort, driving experience, safety and practicality of the interior. The sculpted, bridged centre console makes a bold design statement that symbolises and enhances the sporty character of the vehicle. At the same time, the layout is elegant and practical, raising the gear lever and o th e r controls to th e perfect e rgonomic height.
INTERIOR
Interior space is maximised through the inside-out approach, offering a flat rear passenger floor and high window surfaces.
ENGINE RANGE
At Vantage Toyota Colne, we are offering the full model range. Auris will be available in 3 and 5 door hatchback bodies with a choice of two petrol engines - a 1.4 WT-i and 1.6 Dual WT-i - and three diesel engines, 1.4 D-4D 90, 2.0 D-4D 130 and 2.2 D- 4D 180. All engines meet Euro IV emissions standards. The new 1.6-litre petrol engine will feature a dual WT-i system, delivering a h ighly efficient combustion process. The dual variable valve timing (WT-i) simultaneously allows better fuel efficiency and increased
power.The 2.0-‘ litre D-4D 130 vvill be available with Toyota's advanced 'self-cleaning' diesel particulate filter (DPF) while the 2.2 D-4D 180 high power will feature the unique Toyota D-CAT technology, which reduces NOX (nitrogen oxide) and particulate emissions at the same time. Both diesel engines deliver increased power and torque bu t still balances this with excellent fuel consumption and emissions. There will also be a wide choice of gearboxes for Auris, with a six -speed manual transmission as standard equipment on the 2.0 D -4D and 2.2 D-4D engines. A new MultiMode transmission with paddle shift will be optional on 1.4 D-4D and 1.6 WT-i engines.

range is the T180 version, which is good for 175 b.h.p. and a whop ping 400Nm of torque, making it as muscular in the mid-range as a Porsche 911 Carrera S. It will get off the line to the 60
m.p.h. benchmark in 7.9 seconds, but it is when the turbo-charger gets spooled up that this engine does its best work, jetting from 50 to 75 m.p.h. in 8.4 seconds. The electrically-assisted power
steering is accurate and com pared to the petrol models, it is easy to feel the weight of the D4- D engine on turn-in. The six- speed manual transmission fea tures some closely-stacked ratios that you will need to keep on top of to maintain decent torque.
