THE numbers were up at a Clitheroe high school. Pupils at Rihblesdale High
School Technology College raised more than £1,500 for the NSPCC during Number Week. Cross-curricular events were
coordinated by Head of Maths, Miss Brionie Sumner. And one of the most popular fund-raisers proved to be the
“Buy your way out of home work” where youngsters gave a minimum donation of lOp to exchange their homework for a competition. Our photograph shows Miss
Sumner (second left) and pupils presenting a cheque to NSPCC representative Alison Kiely.

New funds set to boost firm’s future
NEW investment is help in g en g in e e r a b r ig h te r future for a Clitheroe com p a n y . LODEMATIC (Compo
nents) Ltd, a Valley-based manufacturer of customised hydraulic cylinders has received a significant financial boost. George Blenkinship, formerly of Philips and Vymu- ra wall coverings respectively, has acquired 50% of the busi ness, and will co-own Lode- matic with present managing director, Clive Thompson. The pair have revealed
e.xciting plans for growth which will boost Lodematic's current £ lm . turnover and increase its 20-strong work force. The deal was orchestrat ed by commercial lawyers at Blackburn firm, Haworth and Nuttall. Mr Blenkinship will play an
active role in running the busi ness, assisting Mr Thompson and his management team with business development and improving efficiency. Speaking on his motivation
to invest and future plans, Mr Blenkinship said: “Clive and the Lodematic team have
extensive knowledge of the sector. This knowledge, com bined with my experience of manufacturing operations, provides great prospects for growth in both sales and prof its.
“Clive and I have a shared
vision to allow the business to grow significantly in the next couple of years. We have planned a number of innova tive projects which will pro vide exciting opportunities and potentially allow us to compete internationally.” Mr Roger Bury, partner and
head of commercial at Haworth and Nuttall, said: “I am confident th a t George's investment and knowledge will drive the company forward. Clive and George have a mutual understanding of busi ness and the industry in which they operate. “This can only have positive
implications tor the future of Lodematic.” Added Mr Blenk inship: “Roger and his team played a pivotal role in the deal. “We were extremely impressed by his no-nonsense approach and delighted with the end result.”
