SATURDAY sees th e curtain rise on the first n ig h t of “A n y th in g Goes” , th e la te s t pro d u c tio n b y Clitheroe P a r ish C hurch Ama teur Operatic and Dra matic Society. Packed with classic

around young Wall Street broker Billy Crocker, who stows away on the S.S. American in hopes of win ning the heart of his beloved Hope Harcourt. She is on her way to Eng land to be married to Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, a stuffy, hapless British nobleman. Stowing away with

Billy are “Moonface” Martin, a gangster labeled “Public Enemy Number 13” and disguised as a clergyman ,\vith his friend Bonnie. Moonface has dis guised himself as a rev erend after stranding the ship's real reverend back at the port. On board, Crocker runs

into his friend, nightclub singer Reno Sweeney, who resolves to help Billy win over Hope. Billy learns the true identity of Moonface, who joins the plot to break up Hope and Eve lyn. As the plot thickens, Hope, Evelyn, Billy, and Reno all end up in a vari ety of compromising posi tions with members of the opposite sex. After Saturday’s open

Evening per formances begin at 7-30 p.m. and an additional matinee performance is planned for the 17th at 2- 15 p.m. Tickets cost £10 for the raised seating or £8 for the flats and are avail- abe from the St Mary’s Centre on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10-30 to 11-30 a.m. Alternative ly, call the ticket hotline on 01200 424545.
