NOTHING could be nicer than a walk after the festivities to burn off all those all calories from Christmas Day. Take the dog along too, if allowed. Two walks which catch the eye are the Clitheroe

Ramblers’ Boxing Day treat walking from Langho to Bowley Scout Camp site, over Whalley Nab and back via Billington Common. The other is the 12th annual Whalley walk next

Thursday, December 28th. Meeting at Whalley bus station at 10-15 a.m. the six-mile circular country walk is ideal for the whole family and there is a prize for the most ridiculous hat worn on the whole walk. Go on, enjoy yourself.

MP's shoes hot foot it out to Africa!

.‘V J m

A PAIR of Ribble Valley’s MP’s shoes are en- route to Malawi.

Nigel Evans attended an event in the House of

Commons to help the Blue Peter Shoebiz Appeal. The appeal is asking the UK’s children to send their shoes for recycling to raise money for UNICEF’s work in Malawi with children facing the consequences of HIV. and Aids. Many of these children are orphans, living on their own and often responsible for the welfare of younger siblings. The shoes are reconditioned and shipped overseas where they are sold in countries where people find it easier to afford second-hand shoes. Mr Evans is pictured with Zoe Salmon, one of

the Blue Peter presenters, handing over his shoes. More information about the appeal can be found at http://www.shoebizappeal.org.uk/
