9-30 p.m. on Monday and 10 a.m. Tues­ day last week. Nothing was stolen, apart from one drill, but the house was com­ pletely trashed,” explained pub landlady

carpets and walls, even the li-ving room fireplace. Before they took the drill, they used it to drill holes in the walls. They even took a Stanley knife and slashed the wallpaper that we’d just put up.” No room escaped the vandals’ mind­


less acts. The kitchen, which had only been fitted 18 months ago, was also tar­ geted. Holes were drilled on the units and work tops, while paint was hurled over the floor. “They’ve just thrown paint on every


surface they could think of. They even went upstairs and threw it all over the bedrooms and bathroom,” Mandy added. Her husband, Curtis, who is a painter


and decorator, said: “I t’s just so dis­ heartening what they’ve done. Every­ thing was brand new. I cannot beheve anyone can go in and do so much dam­

Alex (15) and Ben (13), had just com­ pleted redecorating the entire house after renting it out for the past year. The evening of the incident the family


had stayed at the Griffin’s Head Hotel in Huncoat, which Mandy runs, because paint fumes were so strong and most of their furniture was in storage. “That Monday night, we’d taken some pictures over to put back on the ■walls and that’s why the drill was there,” Mandy explained. “The -vandals forced their way in through a back window after we’d left. Unfortunately, the neigh­ bours didn’t see anything.” The Brunker family are well-known


in the town for their'community spirit. Curtis’ father. Jack Brunker, who lives in Bolland Prospect with his wife, Chris­ tine, decorates his house with festive lights each Christmas and has brought joy to hundreds of local children. Anyone with information should

Storm brews over X-Factor

CLITHEROE singing sensation Jonny Lloyd made his debut on Britain’s biggest TV talent show


amid a storm of controversy. Up-and-coming star Jonny (25),


pictured, who is the son of Mor­ timers’ Clitheroe estate agent Ian Lloyd and his wife, Anne, audi­ tioned on ITV’s “X-Factor” as a member of new boy band “Avenue”. Millions of viewers saw the five-


strong talented group perform their version of Will Young’s “Leave Right Now” in front of the infa­ mous Simon Cowell, and fellow judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osborne, on Saturday night. An unimpressed Simon decided to


say “no”, but Louis and Sharon gave the boys a chance and they have made it through to the “boot- camp” stages of the televised com­ petition. Howe-ver, Jonny and his fellow


band members found themselves under the spotlight twice over the weekend when a national tabloid newspaper revealed that “Avenue” had been formed by British pop mogul Ashley Tabor. Mr Tabor happens to be a busi­


ness associate of Louis Walsh. The front-page article claimed the


group broke “X-Factor” rules by failing to declare they had a man­ agement deal before auditioning and the discovery left the judges “seething”, leading to fears that the band could be barred from the series. Earlier this week, a spokesman for


the hit show refused to confirm or deny the claims. She said: “We are currently investigating the matter and the future of the band is in the hands of the judges.” Meanwhile, Jenny’s father Mr


Lloyd said: “I cannot comment on the claims, but we are delighted and


very proud that Jonny has made it through to the next stage. He has worked very hard to get where he is today and has had more downs than ups. I t ’s finally looking up for him now.” As the third series of the “X-fac-


tor” is under way, Jonny and his fel­ low band members will battle it out against more than 100,000 hopefuls to land themselves the £lm. record­ ing contract. Jonny has a string of musical


accolades and achievements under his belt, including a Provost and Bishop’s award, attained as head chorister a t St Helen’s Church, Waddington, five years’ training at the Mary Waddington School of Dance in Clitheroe, a BTEC in Per­ forming Arts from Preston College and two years’ advanced training at Phil Winston’s Theatre Works in Blackpool. Exceptionally talented, he is no


stranger to the world of popstars. He has already supported national­ ly-known acts such as “Liberty X” and “Atomic Kitten”, and worked with a range of well-known artists including Geri Halliwell, Rachel Stevens and Duncan from boy band “Blue”.(s)
