www.clitheroetoday.co.uk FEATURE ‘Mop’ attack on FROM A DREAM TO REALITY. I door ends in court
What started out as a dream is now a reality for a Burnley firm that has just moved into new premises at Finsley House, Finsley Gate, across from the Superbowl.
Sally Windows Ltd is proud to proclaim its new showroom as the biggest in the area, boasting nine show conservatories, plus window and door displays.
■ X
It has been a remarkable growth for the firm, which only opened a showroom in Easter 2004 at Billington Road Industrial Estate. However, growing demand and the need for more space has fuelled the latest move.

Band is a hit on
St George’s Day NOT only was Clitheroe awash with red and white flags over the weekend, but the Lancashire town took its patriotism across the border to make its mark on Yorkshire folk. Clitheroe Town Band was in concert
during a St George’s Day celebration dinner at Skipton’s Rendezvous Hotel. Joining the band were guests Ann
Hacking (soprano), of Martin Top, Rim- ington, and baritone Jim Parker, of near by Twiston. Master of ceremonies was Simon Far-
rimond, an old boy of Stonyhurst Col lege who received his musical teaching from band conducter Bill Carter. The charity event was masterminded
by former Rotary Club of Clitheroe: member Malcolm Weaving who now owns the hotel with his wife, Karen. Clitheroe Town Band certainly
impressed the Yorkshire diners with a miscellany of English music, Second World War songs and a selection from the Beatles and Queen which had the audience demanding more. The band, formed six years ago, gave
an outstanding performance. Diners were then invited to cross the
border in August for the “Last Night of the Proms” at Clitheroe’s Castle band stand. And, weather permitting, hundreds are
expected to pack the Castle grounds for this ever-popular annual musical spec tacular.

have an Individual theme, such as a games room, a spa room, an office, a dining room, a children's playroom, etc. The showroom will give customers plenty of ideas.
The reason for such a meteoric rise to the very front of the domestic market locally is down to the first approach to potential customers. Sally Windows was the first company to introduce a IS minute initial visit and this was to re-encourage people who had had bad experiences with pushy salespeople.
Managing Director, John Brennan, is the first to admit that “the industry has been tainted by fly by night companies out to make quick profits and then disappear - using high pressure sales people to intimidate potential customers into spending their hard-earned money". He is keen to stress that visitors to his showroom will not be under pressure from salespeople as the company has a strict policy of not inumidating people into buying. Everyone is welcome to come and browse at their leisure and enjoy the fantasac showroom at their own pace. Mr Brennan started the company with himself and Craig Melling. At
the time, they had one van and a small advertisement in the local press. By using only quality Veka products and always doing a good job. the business has rocketed to the largest windows, doors and conservatory showroom for miles.
“As a company, we are never beaten on price and always better the quality of rival companies that do not use Veka profiles. We openly encourage potential customers to get as many prices as they wish "
Opening details for the new showroom are as below, however, a quick call to the freephone number 08081 552602 will ensure that it is open for your convenience.
Normal opening times will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm,Thursday 9am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday I lam to 4pm.
A BRUSH with bouncers at a Clitheroe pub ended with a 33- year-old local man being eject ed via the back door. Blackburn magistrates heard
that Darren Lee Allen responded by throwing a mop bucket at the door and then attacking it with two mops. And defence solicitor Mr Michael
Blacklidge said the incident had begun because Allen had got him self “hopelessly drunk, if not as drunk as a mop.”
Allen, of Richmond Terrace,
Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to causing £150 worth of damage at the Key Street bar, in Lowergate. He was fined £50 and ordered to pay £150 in compensation and £70 towards prosecution costs. Judy Balderstone (prosecuting)
said Allen’s antics with the mop and bucket had been caught on closed circuit TV. She said the video showed Allen being thrown out of the pub and losing his foot ing. Mr Blacklidge said his client, a
self-employed electrician, had lost his footing because he had been taken down the steps at the rear of the pub backwards. “It is fair to say he was handled
roughly and perhaps if he had been escorted from the premises through the front door there would not have been any problem,” said Mr Black lidge. “He was annoyed at the way he'
was ejected and accepts he threw the bucket before attacking the door with the mop handles.”,
