A VALLEY teenager and his nonagenarian grandad are get ting on their hikes together to raise money for charity. In the New Year 17-year-old Jack

Hyde, of Knowle Green, will attempt to cycle over the Three Peaks. Keeping him company - on his exercise bike - will be his 93- year-old grandad, Mr Alan Harg reaves. The pair are hoping to raise cash for Raleigh International, a youth

development charity which pro vides overseas expeditions for young people to help local communities across the world. Each expedition lasts for 10

weeks and includes three aspects, environment, community and adventure, enabling those taking part to experience new cultures, as well as learning new skills. In March, Jack, a former pupil at

St Cecilia’s RC High School in Lon- gridge, will be joining a Raleigh International trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Before he takes off on his adven

ture of a lifetime Jack has to raise £3,000. To date he has collected £1,500 including money he has saved, a donation from the Gordon Foundation and the proceeds of a fund-raising bonfire night. On December 17th he is planning

to hold a market at Knowle Green village hall where he will be selling holly and other festive greenery, and in January he will tackle the Three Peaks challenge. Anyone wanting to sponsor Jack

can contact him on 01254 878402 or via email on jackinasack@hot- mail.com.
