ness law at the Association of Char tered Certified Accountants (ACCA), said: “The deadlines have now been extended from May 31st to July 1st. Provided a valid appli cation is received before this date, they will be accepted and take effect from August 1st, 2005. “However, farmers yet to make

an application are reminded that the online application forms have now been scrapped, due to technl-. cal errors, and paper applications should be submitted to DEFRA instead.”

The Environmental Stewardship

Scheme will reward farmers for undertaking environmental protec tion and enhancement work, and is designed lo build on the Country side Stewardship Scheme and the Environmentally Sensitive Areas Scheme. The Entry Level Scheme - which could include farmers leaving conservation strips around fields, improving hedgerow management and creating beetle banks - will provide an additional annual income of £30 per hectare. High-tech meeting given thumbs up \-T It — t ome and see one of the best parks in

A UNIQUE and high-tech meeting of Ribblesdale Camera Club saw members using interactive handsets to assess a series of 25 photographs. The evening was set up in a simi

lar fashion to an ordinary competi tion. However, chairman Jeff Cowl ing provided all the digitally project ed slides, to take away the competi tive aspect. Ken Geddes acted as the “judge”,

analysing and discussing the images and awarding marks. Everybody in the room also voted for the images, using wireless handsets with five let tered buttons to award marks.

Everybody was anonymous, being given code names. After the voting,

a touch of a button superimposed a chart with red columns showing the percentage of the different marks given to the pic ture. Only after this

had been digested was another button pressed which changed the col umn corresponding to the judge’s mark from red to green. The equipment,

kindly loaned to the club for the evening by the local company Promethean, was designed for educa tional purposes. Commenting on

the evening, Mr Geddes said it had been 'a very inter esting experiment. Inquiries i on

organised by Lorigsight Riding Stables in Langho, took the group of almost 30, which included one woman riding side saddle and a youngster in fancy dress, to Whalley, Billing- ton, past Brockhall Vil lage and back to the sta bles. The riders, who were

accompanied by numer ous walkers, collected a total of £30 on the day, with the final sponsorship amount yet to be finalised. On completing the cir
