A YOUNG and dynamic Ribble Valley drama group will showcase its considerable talents at the world-tamous Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Members of RATS - the Ribchester Ama
teur Theatrical Society - will travel to the Scottish capital in August to take part in the prestigious event. Young writer and director Owen Phillips has
had his play “The War Bus” accepted as part of The Fringe. Now he and a group of other RATS members have formed a spin-off theatre group, named “ribcaged”, to perform the new work. It will have its debut at the Ribchester Festival of Music and Art in June, and then be performed in August at Edinburgh. The play is set in a village pub in Lancashire

recorded in various family histories and is a
harrowing, yet moving, tale. The actors involved are RATS regulars of a
wide age range, from students to recently retiredl Jo Shipman and Hazel Thompson play the young lovers. Rebecca Parkinson, star of both of Owen’s successful short films, and Viki Mason are also family members. Keith Flood, Guy Mason, Nicola Smith and Deb Groves
complete the cast. Performance dates for “The War Bus’ in
Ribchester are June 21st, 23rd and 25th in Stydd Church. More details will be forthcom ing when the festival programme is published.
----------- In Edinburgh the play will be performed in

RATS productions, written and directed two plays for the RATS and done short films for Ribchester Festival. He is thrilled at the prospect of being at the centre of the UK’s most prestigious arts festival.
------ Mum's on the lookout!
AN up-and-coming punk rock band is looking for a male vocalist to join them. “Your Mum”, which features local
lads; Adam, right, Paul, left, and Joey, are holding auditions on Saturday, May 7th, at Trinity Youth and Community Centre, in Clitheroe. The lads, who are inspired by groups
such as Green Day, Offspring and Blink 182, have been together for 18 months and are looking for a good performer, aged between 17 and 25 years of age. Adam, from Clitheroe, who plays bass,
said it is an exciting time for the band who are hoping to be signed by an inde pendent record label soon. “We are looking to play at the
Clitheroe Royal Grammar’s sixth form prom in May and then some larger ven ues outside of Clitheroe after that.” Anyone interested should call Adam on 07745716302.
