Court sequel to volatile life

;■ - fW - ■ j:

A CLITHEROE woman’s tempestu ous love life landed her in court for the

first time. Blackburn magistrates heard that Lisa

Sanderson’s on-off relationship with her boyfriend had been more on than off dirr- ing a three-month period when he was liv

ing with her. But because of uncertainty about the

future, Sanderson, who was claiming as a single parent, neglected to inform the authorities about her change of circum-

St&HC0S Sanderson (26), of Albermarle Street,

pleaded guilty to two charges of failing to notify a change of circumstances. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £75

costs. Mr Michael Singleton (prosecuting)

said there had been a total overpayment of £2,151 made up of income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit during the time tha t Christopher Trotter was living with Sanderson. When interviewed by Department of

Work and Pensions investigators, Sander son said th a t although Mr Trotter was staying at her home she had not consid ered they were living together. Mr Daniel King (defending), said the

couple had an on-off relationship which could be volatile. “During March, April and May of last

year he was staying with her on a fairly regular basis, but shortly after the rela tionship concluded permanently,’’ said Mr

King. “I t was not a case of her walking down

the aisle with this man, it was not that certain.”

an independent partnership between solicitors Irene Chenery and Carol Maher and property spe cialist Janet Helme, is offering a service that, they say, goes beyond tradition al estate agency. Purple Willow

will, says Janet, be providing advice, helping to make customers' properties more appealing to buy ers and to min imise legal delays it will offer linked legal services. Purple Willow's

own interactive website allows vendors in a chain to stay up-to-date on progress, see details of view ings and also feed back on their property. The new com

pany adjoins Irene Chenery Maher and Co. solicitors in Church Street, Clitheroe. And if you are

wondering about that name. Purple Willow is a rare tree native to the Kibble Valley, whose bark con tains a natural "aspirin" for pain relief - in other words the ideal antidote to all those house-sell ing headaches.

thank you A SABDEN man has walked his way to raising £500 for the paramedics who came to his aid when he fell while playing a round of goF. Mr Terry Ward was

stranded on the green a t Accrington Golf Club when he slipped and tore the quadricep tendon in his leg. He could not stand up

and, as he was quite a dis tance from the clubhouse, it was impossible for a nor mal ambulance to reach him. So the North West Air

Ambulance crews were called into play. Mr Ward, pictured with

the cheque, lives with his wife, Joyce, in Alston Close. He said: “The air ambu

lance came and carried me to a point where the nor mal ambulance could reach me.” After the accident, in

February, 2003, Mr Ward, who works as a manager

for the commercial divi sion of Clitheroe’s Ultra frame, had to undergo an operation and spent 14 weeks off work. Now fully recovered,

Mr Ward (56), a father of two with three grand children, wanted to thank th e Air Ambu lance team which relies entirely on public dona tions. So he took part in a 10km walk organised
