Cheap tickets on offer at rail event

THERE will be prizes to win and cheap rail tickets on offer a t a “Welcome to your Railway” event at Blackburn station on Saturday. To commemorate National Commu

nity Rail Partnerships Day, train com pany Northern is joining forces with partnerships across its network in a bid to raise awareness of the rail services available. There will be a special promotion on

ment, including a magician and musi cians, at the gala.

Advice and information will be

offered to local people about getting involved with CRPs and how commu nity groups can “adopt” a station. Members of Ribble Valley Rail will

be out and about on Blackburn station and the event will be of particular interest to anyone wanting to find out more about the Association of Com munity Rail Partnerships’ proposed CRPs scheme to revitalise the Preston to Colne line. Richard Watts, rail officer for Lan

cashire County (jouncil, said: “CRPs aim to improve local rail services and stations through community involve ment. The partnerships bring together train operators. Network Rail, local authorities, businesses and community groups.” .
