•MORE than £400 has been raised for charity by one of Waddington’s residents during the scarecrow festival. ]\Ir John Hurd, of Church Close, decorated


his garden with disabled scarecrows in aid of Waddington Methodist Church, who are rais­ ing funds towards the building of a disabled access.

Ganey Marcella and Laura Lawson, all aged 11 and 12 years wrote and presented the event on Bank Holiday Monday and raised £21.91 for the charity. They acted out plays, told jokes, organ­


ised a quiz, held a raffle and had a “name the Teddy” competition, plus refresh­


ments. ‘ Mrs Sheila Blackburn, Will and Ganey’s


grandmother and chairman and treasurer of the Chatburn branch of Cancer Research UK, said that the concert'was greatly enjoyed by everyone.
