The establishment now
boasts a spacious gymnasium, which houses contemporary equipment complete with a wide-screen plasma television, providing clients with a haven
strengthened with the appointment of ex- Royal Marine and award-winning fitness consultant Johnny Roe. johnny is a highly-
qualified personal trainer, who has years ■of experience as a professional

role that can be played by the provision of sports and leisure facilities, proprietor Kevin said: "The club has

for anyone wishing to unwind after work, work-out during the day, or simply take advantage of gentle exercise to produce a feeling of well-being. "Clients

LADIES IN LAVENDER (12a); Stage and Screen; from tomorrow
T H E R E is n o th in g like a dame, and in “Ladies in Laven der” you get two for the price
of one! Dame Maggie Smith and
Dame Judi Dench play sisters Janet and Ursula - the former is a widow and the latter a spin
ster. Their peaceful and routine
lives are disrupted when they take in Andrea, a young Polish man who they find washed up and barely alive on a Cornish heach in 1936. As Andrea recovers, the sis
ters discover that he is a gifted violinist and both, in different ways, find themselves drawn to him in search of their own lost youth and opportunity. However, when Andrea meets
Olga - th e s is te r of a famous v io lin is t who recognises Andrea’s ta le n t - the women become determined to stop him moving on. This is a moving and melan cholic drama of the realities of
love and growing old. I t is a tribute to its stars and
its director, Charles Dance, bet ter known for his own roles in front of the camera.
