www.clitheroetoday.co.uk Pupils’ anti-bullying promise

PUPILS from a Ribble Valley School are taking steps to combat

bullying. Bowland High School, in

Grindleton, joined schools across the country in support of annual Anti-Bullying Week. The second ary school, which organised class

activities on the theme, which included role plays, debates and poster designs, held a special assem bly where an anti-bullying charter was launched. “We all signed the charter pledg ing us to work against bullying in •all its forms and support people who

feel they are being bullied in school”, explained teacher, Mr Kim

Croydon. Pupils from the school also wore

anti-bullying wristbands and took part in “Blue Friday”, where blue clothing is worn instead of their uni form.

A Ghristingle service was held in St Leonard’s Church, Downham, on Sun day morning. The children helped to make the Christin- gles and distributed them among the con gregation.

There will be a variety of stalls stocking items such as bird feeders, Christmas plants and wreaths, candles, cakes, toys and Christmas cards. Organisers want everyone to feel free to go along whether they are in need of a few last presents or even if you just feel like getting into the Christmas spirit.

The Rev. Rodney Nicholson conducted the service and gave a short talk on the origins of the Christ- ingle and the work of the Children’s Soci ety which will receive the
