AT just 16 years of age, Bethany Clews is set to play the lead role in Clitheroe Parish Church Amateur Oper atic Society’s production of
“Crazy-For-You”. Bethany, a pupil at St Augus
tine’s RC High School, Billingtoh, is the youngest person to play the lead role for the society. She is an outstanding singer and dancer, and society members are confi dent she will be a huge success. The male lead, Bobby, will be
played by David Hulme, who had great success playing Nicely Nice ly in “Guys and Dolls”. The rest of the cast are: Zangler,
Howard Raw; Eugene, Bob Cleeve; Mother, Jean Pells; Lank, Brian Haworth; Irene, Andrea Crawley; Tess, Sam Smith; Everett, Tom Garner; Patricia, Lesley Haworth and Patsey, Lind say Pollard. More men are still required for
the chorus. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at 7-30 p.m. in
St Mary’s Centre, the former parish church hall. The show, which features memo
rable hits such as "Can’t Take That Away From Me,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” and “I Got Rhythm,” will be directed by
Howard Raw, with Ann Grogan as choreographer and Philip Dobson the chorus master/accompanist. The society is always in need of
help both backstage and front of house. Anyone willing to help should attend one of the

AN exciting local artist has chosen land scapes of Lancashire as the theme of his biggest exhibition to date. Alistair Makinson (pictured), of Mel
lor, has 70 original paintings on display at Bashall Barn Farm Shop and Cafe, at Bashall Eaves, until Christmas. Although he has contributed to a num
ber of local collections for several years, this is the largest exhibition of Alistair’s work to have been mounted. Alistair's says that his paintings were
inspired by the sights found in the Ribbk Valley, Longridge and around Lancashire Bashall Bam proprietor Simon Bames
said of the exhibition: “It’s very excitms to have such a large collection of Alistair’s work here. He’s had pieces on show hers for two or three years now, but this is tht first time we’ve put on a full exhibition.” Alistair said: “Bashall Bam is the idea,
