Tributes paid to a loving husband
By Faiza Afzaal : ; .
MANY people have been saddened to hear of the death of a well-known Kibble Valley farmer who has died at the age of 56. Mr Harry Seed, (pictured), died at
home last week with his family beside him after a short illness. Born in 1949, in Little Badlands Farm,
Rimington, Mr Seed attended Gisburn Primary School before going to Riversmead High School (now Bowland High School). He left school at the age of 15 and

started working on his parents’ farm in Rimington. In his early years, he also worked at
Gisburn Auction Mart for a spell. He met his wife, Ida, at a dance in the
1960s. The couple married in 1969 at Whalley Parish Church. The newlyweds made their home in
Rimington, where their two children Joanne Tilley (35), and Gary Seed (32), were born. In 1980, Mr Seed exchanged homes
with his parents and the couple moved into Little Badlands Farm, Rimington. Because of his day-to-day farming
duties, Mr Seed had very little time for hobbies. However, his favourite pastime was repairing and modifying farm machinery. In an emotional tribute, Mrs Seed said

ly person with a great sense of humour. He was very down to earth and never liked to be the centre of attention. “He took great pride in working on the
farm. "From first being ill early tins summer,
Harry continued to work on the farm up to going into hospital. He always remained positive and desjiite his aggres sive illness, ho always looked to the future. "He ivas my best friend and will be
sadly, sadly missed." Mrs Seed added she could not put into
words the amount of gratitude the family felt to all those people who had helped look after her husband. She expressed particular thanks to Cas
tle Medical Group's district nurse, Josie, the team at Queen’s Park Hospital, Blackburn, and the Marie Curie Nurses, who went out of their way to improve his quality of life. The funeral was held on Friday at St
Mary’s Church, Gisburn, followed by bur ial at Whalley and Wiswell Cemetery. The family asked those attending not

Airwaves appeal for bingo balls

waves led to an afternoon of bingo cailing at a Ribble Val ley nursing home. Residents, relatives, friends
amd members of the local community thoroughly enjoyed the Bingo Afternoon at the Manor House Nursing and Residential Home, in Chatburn. It was made possible after a
call to Radio Lancashire’s Helpline, appealing for a bingo machine, was successful. After the appeal was broadcast, Mrs
Joan Hall, of Chorley, kindly arrived at The hlanor House with a machine complete with "ping pong balls", which pro vided the visual display they were looking for. Caller for the afternoon was
"Rosemary and her rolling balls”. Complete with uniform and microphone, she enter tained the crowd as they played bingo for prizes. A buf fet tea was also served and more than £200 was raised towards the Residents’ Social and Community Bus Fund.
