ing supplies. Its growth was rapid and the company soon acquired the Hanover Chapel building to cope with its expan sion plans and it quickly became renowned in the area for quality products at affordable prices. In 1995, BPS introduced its
own fitting service, which has now built up a very healthy rep utation. The firm has managed to
maintain its mandate of being big enough to cope, yet small enough to care, and it has long been
a.philosophy of BPS to treat every customer the same, whether they are spending thou sands of pounds or just want help and advice; In 1999, just after the launch

really is the travel agency of the future
Combining traditional customer care val ues with state-of-the-art technology, the family-run, locally-owned agency based on Castle Street provides everything a trav eller could need.
Bought by manager of 10 years Nigel Pratt on June 1st, Clitheroe Travel has been established in the town since 1947.
Father-of-two Nigel, whose wife Janet is also a director of the business, said: "We're very forward thinking, but at the same time stick to the old fashioned values of service and quality."
The couple, who with two teenage chil dren themselves are attuned to what fami lies want from a holiday, pride themselves on enhancing any travel experience.
A specialist in travel to the USA, Nigel, who has 25 years experience in the travel industry, has passed on his values to three professional ABTA qualified members of staff - Phillipa Jones, Sam Briggs and Sharon Hall.
Each member of the team prides them selves on not just booking that trip away - but discussing every detail of that booking and how it can be improved.

Nigel said he believed that nowadays the literal meaning of being a travel agent is too often overlooked and instead of acting as an "agent" on a customer's behalf - travel agents acted as glorified sales peo ple keen to flog that latest "bargain"!
"We like to provide the full service pack age," he added.
Furthermore, because ClitheroeTravel is an independent agency, it has the advantage of having a plethora of different operators on its database without the obligation to choose any particular one.
"We are the customers' agents first and foremost and seek out the best deal for the client," Nigel stressed.
It also has the backing of Freedom Travel Group, a subsidiary of United Co-opertive Travel Group, one of the largest retail travel company's in the UK.
This gives the agency great "buying power" and ensures it enjoys a good rela tionship with individual tour operators and airlines making it as competitive as any other travel agency on price.
The agency, which also provides a 24-hour information and booking service on its

web-site, has the very latest technology at its fingertips.
This includes e-mailing and texting cus tomers with updates on bookings. For example, messages letting clients know when their tickets have arrived.
Furthermore, the agency has access to numerous information banks such as the Foreign Office web-site, which contains the very latest information on security issues and where to and where not to travel. Nigel can even find out if your resort is likely to be hit by a hum'cane through the latest "Hurricane Hunter" technology!
He also soon hopes to be able to show customers satellite photographs of their hotels through new technology which allows clients to see up-to-the-minute images by just inputting a post code.
"We take care of all those little things that make a trip go smoothly - the things that make memories rather than nightmares," commented Nigel.
Apart from fulfilling the simplest travel requests such as booking a rail ticket, flight, weekend away or package holiday - ClitheroeTravel also offers a tailor-made holiday service to destinations around the world.
"One day we'll be organising a trip across the Himalayas for someone with a set of sherpas or boat charters in the Caribbean, and the next we'll be asked to book a last minute cheap deal away to Spain," Nigel quips.
Bespoke holidays are also a speciality with Nigel and his team able to convert any spe cial interest or hobby into the holiday of your dreams. You just come up with an idea and they'll do the rest.
The agency is so interested in the finer details that it could almost be compared to a concierge club. Anyone wanting to find and make that elusive reservation at a top restaurant should now know where to
Nigel is happy for anyone to pop in for a chat about their travel requirements, while those with a busier schedule can access the company's web-site at
