YOU would think the sun would be the least of your worries when driving
in winter. Surely the golf ball-sized hail stones, the arctic winds and the freezing fog would be more immediate hazards. Appar ently not, as the RAC is warning drivers over the dangers of the winter sun and offering, some helpful hints for a safer winter’s motor ing. In winter, the sun is very low in the sky at
the peak travel periods of around 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. This means that drivers can find themselves travelling directly into the glare of the sun when it is too low to be shielded by a car’s sun visor. Reflections from icy or wet roads only exasperate the situation. The obvious solution to this is to carry a
pair o f su nglasses in your vehicle and polarised lenses that reduce reflections are preferable. Drivers who wear prescription glasses are especially vulnerable, but you can buy photochromic lenses that automatically darken in the sun. If you do become dazzled by the sun, you
should slow down and stop if your vision con tinues to be hindered. It is also important to keep your windscreen clean to reduce glare.

.than a Honda S2000 roadster can come up with. With Nissan, Honda, Toyota and Mazda all lacking a credible supermini snorter, the CZT looks the hottest of the Japanese tots. I t is quite rare these days to
chance across a turbo-charged hot hatchback, and the power delivery of the CZT harks back to the old days when such cars were fun with a capital ‘f’. The interior detailing reads like a

driving position, which is much more akin to that of a mini-MPV
than a sporting car. Get it rolling and confidence soon rises, with plen ty of lateral grip and decent body control. Part of the Mitsubishi Colt
CZT’s appeal is that it has no track record to speak of and, therefore, no baggage when it comes to image. Given th is clean s la te , M it
subishi’s designers have created a sporting to t that, while not the
most instantly appealing car in its class, nevertheless possesses a broad range of q u a lit ie s th a t make it worth serious consideration. The CZT has a good deal more
personality than the looks would suggest and is a resolutely feel-good funster. It is a credible alternative to the mainstream contenders and rep resents a decent return to form from Mitsubishi.
