as the bold selection policy of playing schoolboy Daniel Bush, and giving Andy Rose his first outing of the ses sion, paid dividends against Burnley C. Bush and Derek Parrott suffered a
minor setback in winning their first match 2-1, but were well in control in their second rubber, winning in straight sets. Rose and Tony Bush eased to vic

their remaining two games of the sea son.

ATHLETIC sensation Anna Griffiths struck gold in the 300m hurdles, at the Young Athletics League Final at Birmingham recently. Running as part of the Wigan team, Anna
also managed to outperform two girls who have run two seconds quicker than her in the past. Alongside that, she competed in the B-string
Javelin, but threw so well that she left the A- thrower in her wake.
However, she failed to add to her medal tally,
after coming home in fourth spot overall. . Following a serious back injury in January,
Anna has only had just over two months train ing in recent timps.
But she has put that firmly behind her, and
has gone on to record several personal best in various meets.
In Warrington, she threw a personal best in
the shot putt of 9.44, while emulating the feat in the National Junior League javelin competition the next day.
A week later, she notched another personal
best in the Javelin, this time at the Mid-Lancs Medal meeting in Blackpool (22.57m), before throwing a best-ever of 29.05m in the Hyndbum Open discus event.
