Elizabeth lands top tennis title

RIBBLE Valley ace Elizabeth Thomas has won one of the most prestigious tour naments on the junior tennis calendar. The youngster claimed the Girls 18 and

under Sunday Telegraph Center Parcs Junior Tennis title in fine style at La Manga, in south east Spain.

Elizabeth played some superb tennis in .

In the semi-finals she powered past

Katy Shaw 6-1, 6-0, before taking on Hertfordshire’s Jo Mayne in the final.

Elizabeth dropped only two games in,

winning the final in straight sets, and she will now hope to build on her success in the tournament and return to La Manga, the Lawn Tennis Association’s official win ter training base, next year to defend her title.
