The revised 2.5- litre turbo diesel has been lifted from the L200 Double Cab pick up, but iTyou think this, signals an agncultural'iapproach, think again; Idling is.quietar, although still not exactly hushed, but the four-cyllndar unit makes superb figurps, 177 Ib/ft of torque available at a subsonic 2,000 rpm. A variable nozzle turbocharger plumps up peak power by a lusty 16%, the peak figure of 114bhp still giving little hint as to the sinewy nature of the engine. Fuel economy is improved by 5%, a welcome side effect of increased internal efficiency. ;


"Should you want for the smooth power delivery of a big petrol engine, the 3.0-litre V6 engine is the one to go for. Whilst the diesel can trump its predecessor's figures across
