A HARD-FOUCHT derby match saw Glitheroe Rugby Club come home with nothing, in a match played m, appalling conditions from the start. , ■ Glitheroe skipper Matt Dugdale was able to select one of his strongest available hne-ups of the season so far. The back line had a positively youthful
look about it, with Ben Curphy teaming up with debutant Chris Massey to form a new useful-lookmg centre partnership. ; The captain moved mto the boiler room
second row alongside the improving Ben Graves,'and this allowed Allan Nutall to return to his favourite blind-side flanker role! Clitheroe started brightly, the pack
makmg good yardage and backs usmg the ball intelligently, making good inroads into the Colne half. ■ This forced a series of penalties, and
CLITHEROE Men’s darts team came away with the
Colne to work themselves over for a try just before the interval. The'second half soon saw conditions
worsen severely, with the teams ending up almost indistinguishable from one anoth
er. ■
Despite this, the game did turn farcical towards the end as the light faded. This was no excuse,-however, for
Edward Hacking to put m a crunching tackle only to discover it was his own rather miffed scrum-half. Chtheroe shipped a few too many tries
in the second half, mainly through poor concentration at times, but at the very least should have had a couple of their own for all their endeavour. As it was they were unable to trouble
the scoreboard further and as the game turned farcical, the referee mercifully called a halt on proceedmgs.

charge, before Rick Jones lost 3-1. Last to the oche was Jason
Dewhurst, and he put his man to the sword, ■winning 3-2. An 8-2 success was testament to
the superior darts the Clitheroe team threw. Gudgeon was man of the match with an average of 87.74.
