Notice is hereby given that Castle Cement Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for an Integrated pollution Preven­ tion and Control (IPPC) permit to operate an installation involv­ ing the manufacture of cement clinker and cementitious prod­ ucts. The installation is located at Castle Cement, Ribblesdale


Works, Clitheroe in the County of Lancashire.


The application contains a description of any forseeable signif­ icant effects of emissions from the installation on the environ­ ment. The PPC permit application includes proposals to trial the use of a substitute fuel comprising chipped tyres on kiln 7 to provide 25% of the kiln energy requirements. The Environment Agency and Castle Cement will be carrying out additional con­ sultation in respect of these trial proposals. This is the subject of a separate advertisement.
