Primary Colours, Sky Premier, 8pm, 12.30pm When it got a big screen release 18 months ago, the timing for Mike Nichols’ political comedy could not have been better. The Clinton/Lewinsky affair had boosted its topicality no end and as with Barry Levinson’s Wag the Dog, Primary Colours looked like it was made especially for that scandal. The tale centres on a talented political aide who reluctantly joins the staff of a fast-talking American Presidential candidate and is soon dragged through the gutter press as his employer’s alleged indiscretions are brought to light. John Travolta is great as Governor Ja ck Stanton, while Emma Thompson brings her usual assured skill to the role of his wife, Susan.
