A PROMISE made by new line manager Mr David Bax­ ter to make the Ribble Valley railway line the best in the country has received praise from the directors of First Group. The group, which owns First


North Western, the local train operators for the Clitheroe line, has praised Mr Baxter for his initiative and given backing for his aim to provide dedicated diesel units for the line. Since his appointment, services


on the line have shown an improvement, but Mr Baxter agrees th a t having dedicated units will lead to further improve­ ments. He said th a t he was delighted with the response of the First Group board and for their support and praised the work of Ribble Valley Rail, especially the support he had received since his appointment. The promised dedicated units are
