ley Lions, where he held many of the offices including president, Coun. Pearson was one of those involved with the development of Whalley's playing fields. The Lions also did-a lot of work to develop Third World eye clinics. The couple have both been connect­


ed with the parish church and school. Coun. Pearson is a former PCC mem­ ber and Mrs Pearson was a welfare assistant at the school. She was a familiar figure riding her bicycle in the area until a serious illness. Always interested in politics, Coun.

time on the Liberal benches, but last


year returned to the Conservative fold. Coun. Pearson's latest involvement has been with efforts to find a car park for Whalley, but he has been keen to work for numerous issues in the village and further afield. He is chairman of the Ribble Valley Social Services Liaison Committee and has worked for other groups such as Age Concern and the Citizens' Advice Bureau. On the borough council, Coun. Pear­


son is a member of the Communmity, Planning and Development, and Parish Council Liaison Committees. Coun. and Mrs Pearson's elder son,
