Happy time It was a happy day when

Mothering Sunday was cel ebrated at Salem Congre gational Chapel, Martin Top. At the morning family service, led by Mrs Edna Cowperthwaite, of Trinity Methodist Church, Clitheroe, the opening hymn was "Now Thank We All Our God with Hearts and Hands and Voices". In her address to the youngsters, Mrs Cowperth waite related the true story of a group of handicapped children running a race. One child fell and one of the others kindly turned back to help, then all the children stopped and joined hands together for the race. There was a big cheer from the crowd when they finished' all in a line. Mrs Cowperth waite spoke to the adults and gave Biblical instances of a mother's influence on her children. At the close of the ser

vice, the children gave delightful posies of daffodils to their mothers, grandmas and aunties, all beautifully made by Mrs Kathleen Scott and Mrs Sylvia Ranee. Organist was Mrs Ethel
