A SHOW of non-stop music and humour to keep folk smiling is in store when the Houghton Weavers play Preston. T h e Y e a r 2000 is e x t ra sp e c ia l for the


Weavers a s it m a rk s the completion of the group's first quarter of a century in the enter­ tainment business.


Originally formed in 1975, the Weavers made


their television debut on the BBC's talent show "We'll Call You" and within months the group had its own show, "Sit Thi Deawn", which ran for a total of six se r ie s. And over the past 25 y e a rs the group h a s appeared on television and radio, a s well a s on stage. Rauco u s traditional tunes and hauntingly


beautiful ballads will ensure the Preston audi­ ence has a wonderful evening's entertainment in the c ap ab le hands of the band. Current members are: Jeff Hill, a musician since he left school, who has toured Jap an with his own band and supported legendary vo ca l a r t is t Glenn Campbell; S te v e Millington, the key­ board, b a s s guitarist and o c ca s io n a l a c co r ­ dionist; lead singer Tony Berry and David Lit- tler, who is well-known for his mastery of the guitar.
