Exotic life close to home

th e r from th e t r u th , as members of C lith ero e Garden Club were remind ed by M r S tan Craig, of Preston, in his ta lk enti tled "A bird photograph- er’syear." Some of this country's

most magnificently-colour- ful specimens were illustrat ed with his slides. In many cases, obtaining the pictures required building scaffold ing hides reaching the tree

tops and then needing exceptional patience to pre sent birds in all their moods and situ a t io n s within touching distance. I t was pointed out that

birds could often be taken for granted, with some peo ple failing to appreciate their beauty and colours. Members departed, regard ing their feathered friends with much more pleasure and awareness. . The next meeting of the

gardening club will be held on November 12th, when the subject will be "Expedi tion Medicine." The sales shed will close a t noon on November 1st and re-open in mid-February. A few lily, tulip and.daffodil bulbs remain.
