COURSE CONTENT Students will learn to communicate in French in a variety ot everyday situations e.g. tinding the way, eating out, shopping, travelling. The emphasis will be on speaking and on listening. Students will be prepared tor Graded Tests 1 and 2 and could
progress to RSA YEAR 2, RIBBLESDALE, TUESDAY 7.15 p.m
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Basic knowledge ol French or Graded Test level 1 or 1 year's study.
COURSE CONTENT Students will widen their ability to communicate in French in a variety ot everyday situations e.g. securing accommodation, eating out, directions, illness. Emphasis will be on speaking and listening. Students will be prepared lor Graded Tests 2 and 3.
YEAR 3, RIBBLESDALE, TUESDAY 7.15 p.m.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Levels 1,2 3 Graded Tests would provide a useful background. Perhaps an O-level taken some years ago. which needs brushing
up. A fairly wide vocabulary on various topics. At least one years previous study of French or French conversation.
COURSE CONTENT A large part of the course is orally based. There is a high content ot listening work, using tapes, visual aids, written exercises. Some grammar will be essential,although communication is the main
objective.
RSA 1 examination is optional - to be taken in May 1995 - Reading Listening Speaking examinations leading to RSA 11 or GCSE the year after.
YEAR 4, RIBBLESDALE, TUESDAY 7.15 p.m., WHALLEY, WEDNESDAY 9.30 a.m.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
-A knowledge of French at least to Level 2 or 3 ot the Graded Tests or a previous GCE/GCSE pass.
COURSE CONTENT Students will learn, through a wide variety of topics, to develop the ability to use French effectively. The emphasis will be on practical communication, furthering expertise in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will be prepared for the GCSE examination in May, June 1995.
YEAR 5, RIBBLESDALE, TUESDAY 7.15 p.m.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT Students should have gained GCSE A-C Grade or old O-Level GCE pass or should be reasonably fluent in basic French. To speak, listen, read and write in French at a level above that of
GCSE French in a register appropriate to adults. Emphasis will be on the spoken word with recourse to books, newspapers, tapes, video recordings. The course could lead to more advanced
linguistic attainment and prepare students to enter A-Level examination (or equivalent) should they so wish.

COURSE CONTENT This course is lor students who want to get by while on holiday or on business trips. The emphasis is on the spoken word, with plenty of opportunity to hear, see and read authentic German.
PROGRESSION The course will lead to Graded Tests Level 1 and 2
YEAR 2, RIBBLESDALE, TUESDAY 7.15 p.m.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT Approx Level 2 Graded Tests i.e. ability to cope in basic situations in a German speaking country. Students will learn to get by in more difficult situations while on holiday or business. The emphasis will be on conversation and listening skills.
PROGRESSION Students will be prepared lor Graded Tests Level 3
YEAR 3, RIBBLESDALE, WEDNESDAY 7.15 p.m.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT Approx 2 years German study - possibly levels 1 and 2 Graded Tests. The course will lead in 2 years to GCSE. The skill areas ot reading, listening, speaking, and writing will be covered. Students
will be encouraged to sit a mock& exam at Basic level at the end ol year 3 and the lull GCSE exam at the end of Year 4.
PROGRESSION Possibly AS level German.
COURSE CONTENT To give complete beginners basic survival skills in Spanish. You will learn to communicate by speaking and being able to understand Spanish in some ol the situations in which a person visiting a Spanish speaking country may find him herself.
PROGRESSION Students will be prepared for Graded Test 1 and 2.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Basic knowledge of Spanish or Graded Test 1.
COURSE CONTENT To learn to cope with everyday situations in Spanish, grammar
terms will be introduced gradually only where needed, emphasis will be on developing speaking and listening skills.
PROGRESSION Students will be able to take graded tests 2 and 3 and progress to further Spanish courses.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Approximately 2 years study of Spanish - possibly levels 1 and 2 graded tests.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT An ability to converse in German on a variety of topics, understand written German and write continuous German. How to speak German with native speakers. Learning will be by
participation in a variety of exercises, both written and spoken. Use will be made of videos, cassettes and a variety of modern magazines and newspapers.
