FESTIVAL’S ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION TONY HADLEY HEADLINES AT LICHFIELD


It’s that time of year when we can start to look forward to summer, and in Lichfield that means only one thing – Lichfield Festival. This year’s event will be particularly special, not just because it’s the first unrestricted event since 2019 but it’s also the festival’s milestone 40th anniversary.


It opens on Thursday, July 7 with the hottest ticket in town, as former Spandau Ballet frontman and festival patron Tony Hadley – celebrating his own 40th anniversary tour – performs in Lichfield Cathedral. Hadley’s fundraising concert in 2019 sold out within an hour of going on sale so tickets are bound to be like gold dust from the moment priority booking opens. The pop icon, who has family connections with the city, has been associated with the festival since becoming a patron in 2017, helping to empha- sise its broad appeal and wide-ranging programming.


Since the first event in 1982, Lichfield Festival has brought a parade of wonderful artists and musicians, and audiences national and local, to the beautiful cathedral city. Each July is a chance for people to try something new, enjoy a picnic on the cathedral lawn, entertain the children, and generally soak up the festival vibe.
