Maximise Office Space With Kitchen And Bathroom Pumping Solutions From T-T
When gravity drainage cannot be used to manage wastewater, a full-sized pumping station isn’t required or below ground installation is not feasible, T-T has the ideal solution – the Loopak® the T-T Utility Box, two purpose-made, convenient pumping solutions for office spaces.
and
As businesses grow and develop, so do their base of operations – undertaking office expansions and facilities upgrades to accommodate the growing number of personnel and daily visitors.
Along with the need for extra meeting rooms and car parking spaces comes the need for a suitable amount of welfare facilities. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 outline an employer’s obligation to provide staff with provisions for hot food, clean water and a place to wash should the job demand it.
Along with the responsibility to provide kitchen, bathroom and washroom facilities comes the need to install appropriate drainage solutions that will reliably transfer wastewater from its source to the nearest main sewer line for further processing at wastewater treatment plants. The location of such new facilities will determine the most appropriate method of drainage, and the two main options are gravity or pumped drainage.
Gravity Drainage vs Pumped Drainage
Gravity drainage is the process of wastewater being carried down through pipework via gravity to the sewer and relies on waste being generated above the main sewer line.
For sites with wastewater generated below this level, such as a kitchen or bathroom block in the sub levels of a building, a lift station is required to transfer wastewater under pressure up to the sewer.
Compact Pumping Systems
Package pumping stations are usually the go-to solution when pumped drainage is required, but businesses expanding their office facilities often do not need the capacity of a full station to serve their new kitchen or toilet block.
Package pump station installation can also be disruptive to a business’s operations, likely requiring excavations for chamber and pipework installation. Alternative pumping units for smaller debris, like the T-T Utility Box and the Loopak®
, provide similar
automatic operation to package pumping stations without the large footprint or complex installation.
Both the T-T Utility Box and the Loopak® are compact and feature
a plug and play design that allows for quick installation underneath sinks and behind toilets, minimising their aesthetic impact.
For low solids wastewater handling – including sinks, white goods and showers – the T-T Utility Box consists of a 10-litre polypropylene tank with integrated level control for automatic waste management. With a maximum operating temperature of 40°C (up to 90°C for short periods), three inlets and a plug and play design, the T-T Utility Box is a versatile and easy-to-install domestic pumping solution.
For blackwater (sewage) drainage needs, the Loopak® Professional
features a macerator pump with a stainless-steel cutting system that grinds sewage, toilet paper and greasy water prior to pumping to prevent blockages – designed for trouble-free bathroom and kitchen service. The Loopak®
can be fitted to any
European standard WC bowl with a horizontal discharge, with four additional lateral inlets to accommodate wastewater from multiple sources and internal level control for automatic operation.
Maintenance & Servicing
Both of T-T’s compact pumping systems are designed to facilitate mess-free maintenance.
In the Utility Box, the submersible pump is fixed to the container lid so that it can be easily removed for inspection and maintenance. An integral high-level alarm system alerts users if water levels become critical, notifying facilities managers of the need for inspection and avoiding any messy incidents.
The Loopak® Professional’s macerator pump is dry installed,
allowing it to be serviced without causing any disruption to active waste connections or facilities usage. For added peace of mind, the Loopak®
Professional Plus includes an alarm in case of system fault and can be connected to building management systems via volt free contacts.
