esign Centre, Chelsea Harbour is a world- class example of placemaking, its famous glass domes synonymous with design and decoration. The international design


strategic expansion has seen the creation of more space; showrooms have expanded, and a raft of new ones have opened their doors. Arteriors has moved to a 50% larger space in Design Centre East, creating a European flagship for the US brand. The expansion has allowed for the creation of roomsets that show off its portfolio of furniture, lighting and accessories that highlights its cross functionality between residential, commercial and hospitality design, while Phillip Jeffries’ move to a much larger showroom means it can display an even greater array of its distinctive wallcoverings. Other showrooms that have recently doubled in size include Watts 1874, David Hunt Lighting and Modern British Kitchens whose quick expansion plans meant it could display bespoke cabinetry, alongside kitchens. Part of what makes the Design Centre special is that


it is inclusive yet exclusive. Anyone with a passion for design is welcome to visit, and yet it is very selective


about its showrooms. The owners’ vision is to create a dynamic and inspiring hub, where each showroom contributes a unique voice and perspective. Whether great British brands or star names from further afield, all are given recognition for their quality, creativity and innovation. New arrivals include Osborne & Little, Crucial Trading, Vispring, Hector Finch, Forbes & Lomax, Siminetti, Loom Furniture, August+Co and Tigermoth Lighting, with The Rug Company, Zuber and Casamance opening soon. “I think we lingered too long in King’s Road!,” says Sir Peter Osborne, the co-founder of decorating giant Osborne & Little about the opening of its new Centre Dome showroom. “We probably should have come here six or seven years ago.
