THE JOURNAL

THE HOTEL

At Raffles London at the OWO, the history of the former Old War Office lives on. To get the look of the Churchill Suite designed by the late Thierry Despont include Watts 1874’s ‘Zarzozi Bargello’ chenille on the sofas and ‘Versailles’ on wood panelled walls. An armless ‘Belgrave’ chair from David Seyfried Ltd, Vaughan’s ‘Newnham’ étagère and a ‘Globular’ lamp in sang du boeuf, Schumacher’s ‘Backgammon’ velvet, alongside boxes from Eccotrading Design London and Arteriors add to the convivial atmosphere.

THE SITTING ROOM Colour, materiality and art influence the work of Studio Vero. To get the look,

add a ‘Litho’ sofa from Pierre Frey scattered with cushions in A Rum Fellow’s ‘Kasma’ fabric from George Spencer Designs and ‘Vienna’ velvet from de Le Cuona. The ‘Garden Panel’ from Paolo Moschino Ltd, a ‘Samirah’ sculpture from Arteriors, Porta Romana’s striking ‘Urchin’ chandelier and a graphic ‘Turnstile’ rug from Tufenkian Carpets make it fit for the home of an art collector.
