MV T&E’s dedication to innovation is not merely reactive; it’s proactive. Understanding that the defence sector cannot afford to rest on its laurels, FMV T&E has embarked on a series of initiatives designed to anticipate future needs and challenges. The organisation’s commitment to expanding its capabilities, promoting collaboration, and accelerating the procurement process underscores its proactive approach to ensuring the Swedish Armed Forces remain agile and responsive in the face of evolving threats.
Expanding capabilities to meet growing demand The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has served as a stark reminder of the critical importance of a strong and adaptable defence sector, both for the defence industry and governmental defence agencies. To meet new and sharpened demands from the political level and from the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV T&E works to further develop its capabilities and expand its horizons. The organisation’s remarkable growth from 170 employees to over 500 in the past half-decade is a testament to its commitment to meeting the growing demand for its services. “To manage the significant interest for our services, FMV T&E is in a rapid expansion phase and we have just passed the 500-employee mark,” says Jonas Linde, director of marketing and sales at FMV T&E. “As we see that the

future of defence test and evaluation
In a world struggling with managing ongoing geopolitical conflicts and the urgent need to transform innovations to battlefield capabilities, FMV Test & Evaluation (FMV T&E) works to make this happen and to ensure that Sweden and its allies remain at the forefront of military preparedness. A recent initiative is the ‘From Innovation to Battlefield Demonstration Week’.
Accelerating procurement and deployment One of the most significant challenges facing government defence organisations worldwide is the need to accelerate the procurement and deployment of new military capabilities. Traditional procurement processes, often designed for peacetime conditions, can be cumbersome and slow-moving, hindering the rapid adoption of new technologies vital for maintaining a competitive edge on the battlefield. FMV T&E’s ‘From Innovation to Battlefield Demonstration Week’ initiative is a direct response to this challenge. This groundbreaking initiative aims to revolutionise the procurement process by providing a dynamic platform for the rapid test, evaluation and demonstration of innovative solutions.
New and innovative solutions are meeting the harsh conditions of reality.
support to Ukraine will be for the long haul, we are setting up structures to manage the Ukraine support and we are working to incorporate the support in the day-to-day work.”
This expansion is not simply about increasing numbers; it’s about strategic growth and prioritisation. FMV T&E has implemented a rigorous prioritisation process to ensure that its resources are aligned with the most critical needs of the Swedish Armed Forces. This process involves a careful evaluation of each request, assessing its potential to support overarching strategic goals.
By compressing the traditional timeline, FMV T&E is enabling the Swedish Armed Forces and allied partners to shorten the deployment of new innovations into their frontline operations.
“The ‘From Innovation to Battlefield Demonstration Week’ is an initiative from FMV T&E,” explains Linde. “The underlying rationale is that Sweden and many of our western allied friends are suffering from procurement and verification and validation processes designed for a now gone peace-time era.” This initiative is not just about speed;
it’s about promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration within the defence sector,
