ith the summer months behind us, the hospitality industry has enjoyed a boom of recovery for the first half of the year reaching 95% of 2019 international tourist arrivals. Despite the growing concerns over inflation and increasing travel costs, travel is still a priority for consumers. On ETC’s latest tourism report, Miguel Sanz, ETC’s President, said: “It is encouraging to see the positive recovery of international tourist arrivals in the first half of 2023. With this in mind, European destinations must be prepared to effectively manage the increased demand and return of travellers.” As travellers increasingly looking for new and sustainable ways to explore in luxury, train travel is seemingly answering this demand. With Accor launching a new Orient Express from 2025, it joins Belmond Hotel’s Venice- Simplon Orient Express and The Vietage in offering guests a luxury hotel on wheels, so to speak, that is better for the environment too. We speak to industry insiders on page 48 to find out more. Hotels are always looking for new ways to prioritise wellness for their guests, with sleep an essential part of anyone’s well-being. We speak to wellness experts from across the industry to find out how hotels are creating the perfect night’s sleep for their guests on page 42.
