Spoils of summer T
he next few months look to be busy for the hospitality industry, as travellers jet off to enjoy the summer months, with over three quarters of travellers planning leisure trips between June and August,
according to TripAdvisor’s latest Season Travel Index. This comes despite the difficult past months of financial, economic and geopolitical concerns as hopeful holidayers are expected to try new experiences and spend more, with young travellers and city breaks dominating travel demand. One experience that travellers are eager to try is the new and growing trend of immersive spa and wellness. The increasingly popular spa offering is set to make waves as guests can experience multisensory rooms and treatments, as we find out on page 43. Hotel operators are also looking to bring the popularity of hotel bars back to life. A pivotal part of hotels, Scott Gingerich of IHG and Hilton’s Adam Crocini discuss how they are boosting the appeal of their hotel bars on page 32. We also hear from Scarlet Hotels, Post Ranch Inn and Accor on page 48 to find out they are bringing new standards of environmental consciousness into their hotel designs. As the industry heats up for another scorching summer, I hope you enjoy the latest edition of Hotel Management International.
