FOCUS 55 Forbo – Tessera Twine

Forbo Flooring Systems has added Tessera Twine to its Evolve+ series of carpet tiles, designed for enhanced sustainability. Inspired by the organic elements of bark and leaves, the Tessera Twine collection has been designed to offer a nature-inspired colour palette. Te product is manufactured using Trive matter by Universal Fibers, a 100% solution dyed nylon 6, which contains 90% recycled content. Te Tessera Twine range contains 75% recycled content by weight, as a result of Forbo’s own lean production processes and the yarn used within it. Manufactured using 100% renewable energy (electricity and biogas), it also has a low embodied carbon from cradle to gate, achieved without offsetting. Donna Hannaway, head of marketing UK and Ireland at Forbo Flooring Systems, says: ‘Sustainability is one of the most important objectives for us as a manufacturer, with our core values of renewability, transparency and circularity. It’s for this reason that we wanted to create a carpet tile collection with enhanced sustainability credentials, first with Tessera Topology and then joined by Tessera Create Space.

‘We’re now delighted to introduce Tessera Twine to

the collection, offering even more design choices for customers looking to combine aesthetics and sustainability. Trough innovating our raw materials and production processes, we have been able to increase the amount of recycled content and lower the embodied carbon value.’

Available in a standard 50x50cm carpet tile format, Tessera Twine features eight neutral tones and four accent colours. Designed, manufactured and stocked in the UK, Tessera Twine is available on short lead times and also meets Indoor Air Comfort Gold, GUT standards and has 27dB impact sound resistance for spaces that promote user well-being. All carpet tiles in Forbo’s Tessera collection can be installed adhesive free using IOBAC MagTabs, allowing them to be easily removed and reused or recycled.
