Biggest ever contract for Handrail Creations The team at Handrail Creations


has gained its largest contract to date with a project at the Grade II listed former war offices ‘The Old War Offices’ recently featured in the Sunday Times.


The buildings are currently in the process of being converted into a luxury hotel and apartment complex, with Handrail Creations creating the timber handrails for the entire project, emphasising the company’s expertise in this area. The Old War Offices is a Grade II listed development


to redevelop the former HQ at Astley into enhanced and Covid-secure welfare facilities for its manufacturing employees.


The new offices have been completely renovated to provide W Howard Group with everything it needs as it continues its growth within the MDF profile market. Developed with customers and distributors in mind, the new site also offers fully equipped meeting rooms and a training centre. “We’re delighted to have moved into our brand-new head office in Glazebury providing opportunities to


improve service levels to our valued customers and, importantly, improving the environment for our most valued of assets, our employees,” said Graham Williams, group managing director.


“This latest investment allows us to welcome more customers to learn more about the company and how our products and technical knowledge can help them grow their own business. Also, the meeting room facilities are available for any customers who wish to host their own off-site meetings.”

Ayrshire sawmill creates 25 jobs due to forestry contract A timber processor in Troon is


creating 25 new jobs thanks to a new contract awarded to them by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS).


The contract supports the introduction of a third shift at Alexanders Timber Design, generating 25 new jobs at the Troon site it shares with sister business, Glennon Brothers. It also secures the future of two local forestry contracting firms.


Automatic crosscut saws


Daltons Wadkin offer a comprehensive range of automatic programmable crosscutting systems for straight and angle work complete with powerful optimisation and defecting software as standard.


The new contract grants Glennon Brothers permission to fell diseased larch trees and spruce on FLS land near Cowal, Argyll and Bute.


The timber is processed at the Glennon Brothers sawmill into fencing and construction products. Stress-graded timber is processed by Alexanders for use in timber frame house kits for the UK’s affordable housing market.
