◄ can be individually positioned. The technology works with boards, panels, squared timber or round bars. The saw aggregates, which can be individually positioned, are automatically aligned to the new cutting pattern in the shortest possible time.


In a live demonstration, Kallfass also showed how a robot can handle wooden sticks fully automatically – a solution for the time-consuming method of stacking wood packs with automatic stick placement, which requires several stick magazines to be constantly loaded with stacking sticks. Kallfass showed how filling of the magazines can be carried out by a robot, at a constant output and high cycle rate. Kallfass has patented the process.


Kallfass is one of the exhibitors which has been part of LIGNA since the very first show in 1975. A stacker was exhibited at LIGNA in the 1970s, with Kallfass being one of the pioneers in the stacking of sawn timber. Italian cutting specialist Salvamac promoted “Cutting with 3 S” vision: Solid, Simple, and Safe. Salvamac, led by the charismatic Christian Salvador, hosted in partnership with Italian drying systems specialist Incoplan on the company’s biggest LIGNA stand to date.


Featured machines were the new Legend 500, Legend 550, and Legend 600, semi- automatic crosscut saws to complement the best-selling SalvaPush_2000.


Receiving its world premiere was the latest generation of Salvamac’s SalvaPush_2000 – a high-speed automatic new push-fed crosscut saw featuring an innovative loading system. It features a pusher speed of 60-200m/min. On the larger primary sawmill technology front, France-based Finega GROUP had a


strong presence and brought together five French manufacturers of sawmill machines and developers of digital IT technologies for the sawmill industry: MEM, GILLET-M1TB, SEGEM, and CIRIS.


Finega emphasised AI for sawmills with its 5.0 Smart Sawmill concept. Its range of machines are connected via the OSIA 5.0 IT solution and STARLINK satellite network. Data is collected and centralised in real time, being presented in interface panels locally or via an internet web platform network.


German CNC timber construction machine producer Hundegger’s stand was like a magnet for the timber construction audience at LIGNA, its machines a regular feature in factories across Europe. Hundegger launched the WALL-Master – panel assembly technology available in three different sizes. The new WALL-Master series (3200 | 3800 | 4500) is designed to set new standards in the automated production and insulation of wall, roof and ceiling elements in modern timber construction. The 3-axis milling unit features sawing, drilling, milling & marking, with an automatic tool changer with up to 12 positions.


There is an upgrade to 5-axis machining for maximum flexibility, with other top features being modular machine design with integrated control cabinets. The SMART- Table scalable table system has rollers, lifting/ lowering modules, clamping technology and a turning function - for efficient handling. Another centre of attention on the Hundegger stand was the ROBOT-Compact 650, which allows economical and professional joinery even for companies with limited space and small production quantities.


The central element is the patented 6-axis robot unit with 28 tool slots. You can use the ROBOT-Compact 650 to complete all conventional operations in a single pass, without part rotation or turning. In LIGNA’s exterior exhibition areas, materials handling took centre stage, with a range of sideloaders and forklifts being put through their paces.


Irish materials handling specialist Combilift demonstrated it was focused on solving customer problems in the timber and panel product sectors.


Two new Combilift innovations included the Combi Load Xtender – its patented double-reach solution for loading and unloading trailers from one side. Quoted benefits include increased efficiency, improved safety, and optimised space usage. It also unveiled the all-new Combi- FSE 8000 – an 8-tonne electric sideloader combining powerful performance with zero emissions.


Martin McVicar, Combiift CEO, told TTJ the Combi-CSS Container Slip-sheet was attracting a strong following internationally for its ability to speed up loading/unloading containers and prevent product damage. Live demonstrations are a popular feature of the materials handling exhibitors, and Combilift’s bar featuring pints of Guinness always proves a strong draw.


Hubtex celebrated a première at LIGNA 2025, with the launch of two new electric multidirectional sideloaders: the MSL 50 and the MAXX 50.


With the new MSL 50, the Hubtex product line has received a robust outdoor upgrade. The new electric multidirectional sideloader, with a load capacity of 5 tonnes, is equipped with a specially developed SL cabin (sideloader cabin) and is optimised for longer transport distances outdoors.

The ergonomic seating position in the direction of travel reduces strain on the driver, ensuring maximum comfort – particularly over longer distances. Thanks to the low-set front window, the route remains in view at all times, while the generous side window provides an optimal view of the load being transported. The new MSL 50 is particularly suitable for companies with large outdoor areas, such as timber merchants or sawmills. Hubtex has also expanded its portfolio with the addition of a powerful 5-tonne model, the MAXX 50. It is designed for combined indoor and outdoor use, making it ideal for use in narrow warehouse aisles as well as for loading and unloading trucks outdoors. “The MAXX 50 is ideally suited to the needs of wood processing companies and timber merchants,” explains Hans-Joachim Finger, General Manager of Hubtex. “It offers increased residual load capacity, which is particularly essential for transporting heavy or damp timber.” ■
