At Noswing’s test facility in Vaasa, Finland, a full-scale overhead crane provides a practical setting for developing and testing the company’s crane-control technology. Much of the recent work on the NS100E has taken place here, where the sensor, control software and movement of a real suspended load can be evaluated together. Speaking from the facility, CEO Steve Ekström tells Hoist how Noswing grew from a problem first encountered through industrial service work in 2005, why crane control must respond to the load’s actual movement and how that approach can be added to both new and existing cranes.
